Hopkinsville Police arrested 25-year-old Xavier Hernandez of Hopkinsville for strangulation after he reportedly assaulted a victim on Thursday.
According to a report from police, they responded to the location of an open 911 call where a man was heard yelling at the caller. At the residence where the call came from, officers initially made contact with Hernandez who reportedly did not want to allow officers inside.
Officers then made contact with the victim and reportedly detained Hernandez. The victim allegedly told officers that they got into a verbal altercation with Hernandez and he went on to punch and strangle them.
The victim reportedly had visible injuries to their neck, chest and right arm.
Hernandez was charged with first-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault. Â
