Hopkinsville Mayor, J.R. Knight and City Public Information Officer, Amanda Brunt recently appeared on WHOP Radio to spotlight their town hall meetings and the most recent “Here in Hoptown” Podcast episode.
The city hosted a town hall meeting on October 1 at the Kenneth Bates Community Center where the public got to learn more about the Lot Next Door Program, the Landbank Authority and code enforcement. Attendees also got to share their questions, comments and concerns.
Brunt says their first town hall meeting had a great turn out and the next one is set for 6 p.m. on October 28 at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Boys & Girls Club.
Looking toward the future, Brunt and Knight say they have discussed hosting town halls biannually with one meeting series in October and second meeting series in April.
On September 12, the Christian County Chamber of Commerce hosted an eye-opener breakfast which featured a panel including Knight, Oak Grove Mayor Jackie Oliver, Christian County Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam and Magistrates Phillip Peterson and John Bruce.
The audience was able to submit questions that the panel would discuss. Since they did not have the time address all the questions submitted at the breakfast, Knight, Gilliam and Oliver appeared on the most recent “Here in Hoptown” Podcast episode to answer those extra questions.
