Hopkinsville man charged with murder, details released in Butler Road stabbing

A Hopkinsville man was arrested and charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of a man on Butler Road early Saturday morning.

According to the arrest report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, 42-year-old Julian Bell of Hopkinsville is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree assault. He and the victim, who was identified as 42-year-old John Anthony Foster Jr. by the Christian County Coroner’s Office, had reportedly gotten into an argument about a past relationship involving the mother of Foster’s child.

That’s when Bell allegedly stabbed Foster multiple times in the chest and stomach with a knife, causing injuries that resulted in Foster’s death.

During the stabbing, a woman tried to intervene and separate Bell from Foster. Bell allegedly cut her hand with knife, causing a severe laceration that sent her to the hospital for treatment.

Bell fled the scene, and following a pursuit with the Hopkinsville Police Department that ended on East Seventh Street, was taken into custody.
