Hopkinsville man charged with assault of a woman on Cave Street

A Hopkinsville man is in custody after he allegedly assaulted a woman he has a relationship with at a location on Cave Street on Sunday.

According to the report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, the alleged attacked happened in the early morning hours Sunday and officers arrived to find a female victim with numerous visible injuries. She reportedly had bruising and swelling to her face, a bite mark on her arm and bruising on her chest.

She told officers that her boyfriend, 50-year-old Kenneth Shepherd of Hopkinsville, had starting hitting her for no reason, and trapped her inside of the residence.

Upon seeing officers, Shepherd reportedly attempted to flee out of a window to escape law enforcement but was quickly apprehended. He told officers he was not present at the residence when the assault occurred.

Ultimately, he was arrested and charged with second-degree assault domestic violence, first-degree fleeing or evading police and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.
