Hopkinsville man arrested for speeding, fleeing from law enforcement

Alejandro Daniel of Hopkinsville was arrested by deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Department after a cross county vehicle pursuit on Saturday.

According to a report from the Sheriff’s Department, a deputy witnessed Daniel operating a vehicle on Hopkinsville Road at around 118 MPH. In response, the deputy caught up to Daniel’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

When the deputy made contact with Daniel, they reportedly smelled a marijuana odor coming from the vehicle. The deputy attempted to take Daniel into custody but he reportedly refused to step out of the vehicle and fled from the traffic stop.

The deputy reported that they then initiated a pursuit that reached speeds of 120 MPH. The pursuit traveled west into Hopkinsville where Daniel reportedly wrecked his vehicle at East Otis Circle and began to flee on foot.

The short foot pursuit ended with Daniel being taken into custody and lodged at the Logan County Detention Center. Daniel was charged with speeding, reckless driving, resisting arrest, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree fleeing or evading police and operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Daniel was taken into custody with the assistance of the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and the Hopkinsville Police Department.
