Hopkins Co. road closure extended after vehicle drives through fresh concrete

The road closure on a portion of Stagecoach Road in Hopkins County will remain in place for a little while longer, after someone apparently drove through fresh concrete, causing damage.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the closure was supposed to end today, but now has been extended to noon Thursday.  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet blocked KY 1069 between KY 260 and Wilber James Road on Monday to replace a drainage tile. Work was completed on schedule and the roadway was set to reopen this morning, but when crews arrived, it was discovered that a vehicle had driven through the wet concrete, damaging the fresh surface.

The road will be closed to allow from the necessary repairs.

Cross drain replacement is being performed on KY 1069 in preparation for the planned paving of 4.6 miles of roadway between KY 260 and the Webster County line later this year.
