Heritage Christian Academy freshman Stephen Whitecotton earned a fourth-place finish in the Boys’ Region 2 Tennis Tournament on Wednesday in Henderson.
Whitecotton becomes the first HCA tennis player to earn a spot in the KHSAA State Tennis Tournament, which will be held in two weeks in Lexington.
The Warriors’ star fell to Henderson County’s Jaxton Duncan 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals on Wednesday afternoon.
In the consolation final, Henderson’s Jace Evans defeated Whitecotton 6-0, 6-3.
Madisonville-North Hopkins had a strong day as Ethan Larkins claimed the singles championship. The Maroons’ doubles team of Noah Mays and Justin Rodgers won the region title over teammates Jaden Heath and Izaac Bridgman.
