Heritage Christian Academy remained in the hunt for the top seed in next month’s District 8 volleyball tournament with a 3-1 win over visiting University Heights Academy Monday night in Warrior Gym.
Mya Goodwin had 15 kills, seven aces, 19 digs and a block to lead the Lady Warriors, who won the first two sets 25-12, 25-18, before the Lady Blazers claimed a hard-fought 25-19 win in the third set. HCA ended the match in the fourth set with a 25-19 win.
Katie Cansler had nine kills, three aces and 10 digs and Makenzie McCarty had seven kills, 16 assists, seven digs and an ace. Grace Conley also had an impressive game with six kills, a dig and a block.
Hadlee Hayes had two kills, 18 assists and 13 digs for HCA, which improved to 10-4 overall and 4-1 in district play.
UHA slipped to 4-8 overall and 2-1 in district play.
Senior Olivia Oakley had 14 kills and 15 digs for the Lady Blazers. Gretchen Durham had one block, two digs and 24 assists and Kathrine Wood added 12 digs.
Kiley Lambert had four kills and one block and Taylor Taylor Cantrell added four kills.
HCA returns to play at Christian Foundation Academy tonight. UHA will be back on the court tonight at home against Christian County in another key District 8 battle.
