Hopkinsville Solid Waste Enterprise is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event this coming Saturday and they’re urging people to take advantage of the event.
Recycling Coordinator Chris Powell appeared WHOP Tuesday morning and says this is your chance to get rid of those materials that are bad for both the environment and you—you can take them to the facility on Mt. Zoar-Latham Road Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon. Once there, the staff will take care of the items while the one dropping them off fills out a brief survey.
There’s a long list of things they can take, including electronic scrap, but some things they will not accept are water-based paint, used motor-oil and tires.
This event is for residential customers only—no commercial businesses will be able to drop off trash or materials. Powell says they hope to have a good amount of participation, so they can receive more grant funding and have more events like this in the future.
You can find a list of accepted items on the Hopkinsville Solid Waste Recycling Facebook page.
