A Greenville man is celebrating after a New Year’s Eve win on a Kentucky Lottery scratch-off ticket.
According to a news release, the anonymous winner from Greenville purchased a ticket at a Quality Quick in Owensboro, and when he scratched off to reveal a win in the $10,000 bonus section, he was so excited that he didn’t finish revealing the rest of the card.
He went home to Muhlenberg County and told his wife about the win, saying, “She couldn’t believe it. She was just as excited as me. Then she asked me if that was all I had won because she realized I hadn’t scratched off the rest of the ticket.”
They scratched off the rest of the ticket, revealing he had actually won $50,000—he claimed his ticket on January 5 and took home $36,250 after taxes, starting the New Year out right.
He says he plans to pay off some bills and then put the rest of it into savings.
