Governor talks I-169 designation, project progress in western Kentucky

If you’ve noticed the Interstate 169 signage going up along the Pennyrile Parkway, the Governor made it official during Thursday’s Team Kentucky update.

The work began to bring the Pennyrile Parkway up to interstate standards well over a year ago, and the governor announced Thursday that approximately 55 miles of interstate in western Kentucky, including Christian and Hopkins County, has been completed and now the Federal Highway Administration has officially inducted that part of the parkway into the national highway system.

He says those upgrades reflect a huge investment into infrastructure, and there does remain some work to go, but this an important milestone in that endeavor.

This designation does reflect a completion of that project locally, and is the culmination of years of work from local, state and federal leaders in an effort to bring what could be a huge economic boom to western Kentucky.
