The University Heights Academy dynamic duo is back.
Tylin George scored 36 points and Elijah Walton added 34 and host University Heights Academy shook off a slow start to defeat Fort Campbell 90-71 Tuesday night in a boys’ District 8 basketball game at Blazer Gym.
Walton, who missed several weeks with an injury, has scored 34 points two straight games.
UHA led only 17-16 after one quarter, but blew the game open in the second period and led 40-27 at the break. Led by George and Walton, UHA outscored the Falcons 30-15 in the third quarter and the rout was on.
UHA improved to 6-11 overall but more importantly the Blazers are 1-1 in District 8. They take on Christian County at 6 p.m. Friday at Lyle Dunbar Gym. A UHA win against the Colonels and a win on Feb. 13 against HCA would force a three-way tie with the Colonels and Hopkinsville for first place in the district standings. Because Hopkinsville has the higher RPI, they would move into the top seed should UHA win on Friday.
Fort Campbell was led by Israel Dillard and Anthony Tyreek, who both had 26 points. The Falcons fall to 3-17 overall and are 0-4 in the district.
