Forum to be held discussing public health in Christian Co. on September 9

The Pennyrile RC&D and Focus 21st Century are set to host a forum on the state of health and healthcare in Christian County next week, and the public is invited to attend.

Speaking with WHOP recently, RC&D members and organizers Diane Croney-Turner and Charles Turner urged the community to attend and learn everything they need to know not just about their own health, but also about the health of the community around them. Croney-Turner says the forum itself gets underway at 6 p.m. at Virginia Street Baptist Church on September 9, but you can grab some refreshments and see a proclamation for Naturefest just before it gets started.

They’ll have a full panel of health experts on hand to speak on the subject and answers questions and concerns, including Dr. Chester Crump, Dr. Tresa Croney White, CFO Mark Laramee, Nurse Manager Janice Johnson, Maternity Team Leader Ciera Ward—all with Jennie Stuart Health—along with Christian County Health Department Public Information Officer Cloe Rager, Dr. John Heltsley and Jill Collins, the Director of the Agency on Aging and Independent Living with the Pennyrile Area Development District.

Turner says the Christian County Health Department will start things off by giving an overview of the overall health of the community, and he says the numbers definitely show room for improvement.

This two-hour event will take place from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on September 9 in the Fellowship Hall of Virginia Street Baptist Church and acts as the kick-off for a multi-part series of public forums set to be hosted by the Pennyrile RC&D.
