Fort Campbell tops HCA, forces 3-way tie in district standings

Fort Campbell scored 10 times in the bottom of the second inning and defeated visiting Heritage Christian Academy 20-10 Thursday in a District 8 softball game.

The win forces a three-way tie for second place in the district standings as Fort Campbell, University Heights Academy, and HCA all are 1-2.

The Lady Warriors (3-4, 1-2) scored two runs in the top of the first but gave up four in the bottom of the frame only to take a 9-4 lead into the bottom of the second inning.

Then the Lady Falcons (5-7, 1-2) struck for 10 runs and put the game out of reach.

Fort Campbell also added a solo run in the third, three in the fourth and ended the game with two in the fifth.

Heritage managed only a fifth-inning run after the second frame.

Ava DeJager had a home run and single and drove in five runs to lead HCA’s offensive attack. Kynlee Henderson also had a pair hits for the Lady Warriors.

HCA will return to action Tuesday at home against Dawson Springs.
