Fort Campbell soldier killed in Clarksville collision

The Clarksville Police Department is investigating after a crash shut down Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway Thursday evening and resulted in the death of a Fort Campbell soldier.

It happened at roughly 6:20 p.m. between a motorcycle driven by the soldier and an SUV, according to a news release, on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway near Rufus Johnson Road. It resulted in the northbound lanes being shutdown completely for several hours with Fatal Accident Crash Team investigators processing the scene.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased while being rush to Vanderbilt Clarksville. He was reportedly an active-duty soldier stationed at Fort Campbell, but his identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the SUV had to be extricated from her vehilce, but her injuries were believed to be non-life threatning.
