Former Fort Campbell soldier indicted for sexual abuse of a minor

A former Fort Campbell soldier has been indicted by a federal grand jury on child exploitation offenses, including sexual abuse of a minor. 

According to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, 54-year-old Zachary Martin Young of South Carolina has been indicted on one count of sexual abuse of a minor. Between the dates of March of 1999 and February 2000, he is accused of knowingly engaging in a sexual act with a minor victim who had attained the age of 12 years but had not attained the age of 16 years at the time.

He was a soldier stationed at Fort Campbell at the time the incidents are alleged to have occurred. He has since retired from the army in 2014.

If convicted, he faces a sentence of not more than 15 years in prison. There is no parole in the federal system.
