A strong weather system brought flooding, severe storms and then accumulating snow to western Kentucky Saturday into Sunday, causing hazardous travel conditions.
Numerous roadways are closed across the region, and several rescue operations occurred Saturday, with a house being evacuated in Guthrie with no injuries. Power went out on Fort Campbell Boulevard for sometime Sunday morning. In Hopkinsville, the Hopkinsville Fire Department conducted two water rescues after vehicles became stranded in very high water.
The first happened at the intersection of East 21st Street and Woodmill Road, and the second on Harry Barry Lane near the rock quarry, though luckily any injuries reported were minor in nature and no homes had to be evacuated.
Governor Andy Beshear has said that his request for federal aid in the wake of the weather has already been approved by President Trump. Roads will likely remain flooded for some time as water recedes, and there is the chance for more snowfall later in the week.
