There does exist a flooding risk in western Kentucky tonight and tomorrow morning, as severe storms rage in the deep south.
Meteorologist Derrick Snyder with the National Weather Service in Paducah says areas in western Kentucky could see around two inches of rainfall through the overnight hours and into the morning Sunday, though some places could see isolated higher amounts.
Snyder says there could be some flooding issues in the usual low-lying and poor drainage areas, and reminds that if you come across standing water in the roadway—turn around, don’t drown.
There is a Flash Flood Watch is in effect for all of western Kentucky, including Christian, Todd and Trigg counties, so make sure you stay weather aware if you’re doing any traveling this weekend. Stay tuned to the WHOP Family of Stations and the National Weather Service for any developments in this weather system.
