Filming for “The Wedding Suite” recently concluded in Oak Grove, where the production showcased the city’s environment and its increasing role in the film and TV industry.
According to a news release from the Oak Grove Tourism Commission, the project showcases the city’s distinctive settings, welcoming community and support for creative industries.
Directed by Christopher Lee Herod, “The Wedding Suite” used the amenities of Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel as a central backdrop, demonstrating the versatility of the location for on-screen storytelling. The commission also claims that the production represents another milestone for Western Kentucky as the region continues to attract high-quality film and television projects.
Producer Kristi Kilday says it was incredible to work in Oak Grove, and that people were welcoming, the locations were visually striking and there’s a genuine enthusiasm there for creative projects, which is exactly the kind of place filmmakers hope to find.
Producer Jeremy Winton emphasized the positive impact of the location and local support. He says from the moment they arrived, Oak Grove made the production better. The community support, the professionalism and the unique locations, especially Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel, make it an outstanding place to shoot. He says they’re excited to bring the story to life.
The film crew spent five days filming in Oak Grove, bringing cast, crew and production staff to the community. During that time, the production generated a positive economic impact through hotel stays, dining, local shopping and the use of area services. In addition to immediate benefits, the film is expected to provide long-term tourism exposure as audiences see Oak Grove featured on screen.
Traci Cunningham, Executive Director of Oak Grove Tourism, says they’re thrilled that Oak Grove was chosen as a filming location. She says the project highlights not only their beautiful settings, but also the hospitality and support of their local businesses and it’s exciting to see the community represented on screen.
