Faith and Family Day takes over the WKSF Sunday, pageants see local contestants crowned

The fun continued Saturday night, drawing thousands of visitors to the Western Kentucky State Fair in Hopkinsville, and the train keeps going Sunday with Faith and Family Day.

Just over 6,670 people made their way to the fair Saturday night to enjoy rides, music, the demolition derby, pageants and much more despite the heatwave that began this weekend. That’s trailing slightly behind last year’s numbers, but there’s still plenty of time to catch up, as the fair continues until June 28.

In the convention center Saturday, the Western Kentucky State Fair pageants were held—in the Mrs. WKSF, the winner was Chelsea Adams, with Bethany Gilkey named first runner up and Samantha Feltman taking second runner up. Gilkey was also named Ms. Congeniality.

In the Miss WKSF pageant, the winner crowned was Krisalyn Littlepage, the first runner up with Skylar Kirby and Emily Dilday took second runner up. Kirby was also named Ms. Congeniality.

The fun keeps going Sunday for Faith and Family Day—Fair Board Chair Kent Boyd says individuals who bring a church bulletin or program to the fair Sunday get in free from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and then have free rides from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.

He says the cost to get into the fair remains the same it always has at $3 per person, with kids under the age of 2 getting in for free. And the parking remains free as well.

Without the bulletin, it’s a $25 armband night for rides, and the first of the tractor pulls gets underway in the grandstands at 3 p.m. with the Antique Tractor Pulls.
