Elkton woman injured in Russellville Road collision

An Elkton woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Russellville Road Friday evening in Christian County.

According to the report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, the collision happened near the 14-mile-marker of Russellville Road when a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Dakota Sweeney of Elkton collided with the back of a vehicle operated by 43-year-old Jamison Mayes of Hopkinsville.

Sweeney told deputies she had been heading eastbound when the possibly fell asleep behind the wheel—that’s when the collision occurred.

Sweeney was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Mayes was not injured in the crash.

Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.
