It’s win or go home for the District 8 baseball teams as the postseason tournament gets started this afternoon at two locations, weather permitting.
Fifth seed Heritage Christian Academy (7-16, 0-8) will play host to fourth seed Fort Campbell (3-18, 2-6) at 4:30 p.m. The Falcons swept the Warriors during the regular season 5-2 and 12-4. However, Fort Campbell enters the tournament on a seven-game losing streak.
The winner will go across town and meet top seed Christian County (14-13, 7-1) around 7:30 p.m. at University Heights Academy. The Colonels have lost three of their final four games entering the tournament.
In the first semifinal game at UHA, the host Blazers (16-10, 6-2), who are the No. 2 seed, will take on third seed Hopkinsville (12-14, 5-3) at 5:30 p.m. UHA swept Hoptown 4-1 and 5-0 this season.
Both semifinal games at UHA will air on 95.3 The Farm with airtime set for 5:15 p.m.
The championship game will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday with both the winner and runner-up moving on to the Region 2 Tournament next week in Eddyville.
Tickets to the District 8 Baseball Tournament are $8 and are cash only. Children 5-and-under are admitted free.
