Details released, victim identified in I-24 fatal motorcycle crash

Kentucky State Police have released details on the fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon near the 86-mile-marker of I-24.

According to a news release, a motorcycle operated by 28-year-old Alan R. Gonzalez of Clarksville—a Fort Campbell soldier—was attempting to merge with traffic heading eastbound on I-24 from the on-ramp from U.S. 41-A. Investigation revealed that while merging, Gonzalez lost control of the motorcycle and struck the guardrail.

The unoccupied bike then travelled across both lanes, where it was struck by an eastbound semi-truck.

Gonzalez was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Christian County Coroner. The collision closed down the eastbound lanes of I-24 for several hours.

The investigation is ongoing by Accident Reconstructionist Detective Jacob Stephens. KSP was assisted on scene by the Oak Grove Fire Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky Department of Transportation, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Jone’s Brothers Towing, Christian County Rescue, and the Christian County Coroner’s Office.
