Details released in Pilot Rock Road crash

The Christian County Sheriff’s Department has released details on the wreck on Pilot Rock Road that sent several children to the hospital for injuries on Christmas Day.

According to the collision report, a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Blanca Hernandez of Hopkinsville was heading south on Pilot Rock Road when she reportedly had engine issues with the vehicle.  It went off the roadway, striking an embankment and going airborne before heading into some trees. 

Hernandez refused EMS at the scene, but a three-year-old, a two-year-old and a five-year-old were all injured in the crash, with two flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for treatment of severe injuries, and the third going to Jennie Stuart Medical Center. 

No one in the vehicle were using seatbelts or other restraints.
