The Hopkinsville Police Department has released additional information on a motorcycle versus utility truck crash on North Virginia Street that killed a Hopkinsville man Tuesday.
According to the collision report, it happened just before noon on North Virginia near the intersection of Means Avenue. The utility truck that was operated by 45-year-old Steven Taylor of Earlington was stopped at the intersection at the stop sign.
Investigation determined that the motorcycle driven by 55-year-old Joe Taylor of Hopkinsville, was reportedly leaving the parking lot of 136 North Virginia when he accelerated, while the utility truck was turning slowly onto North Virginia, and was unable to see the motorcycle due to the curve in the road. The two collided, ejecting Joe Taylor from the motorcycle.
He was rushed to Jennie Stuart Medical Center with CPR in progress, where he would ultimately succumb to his injuries. Steven Taylor was not injured in the crash.
