Deputies from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested 41-year-old Reenada Perez of Franklinton, North Carolina after she reportedly caused a wreck while she was under the influence early Monday morning.
According to a report, deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 24, and during the investigation, Perez was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Perez was reportedly unstable on her feet, smelled like alcohol and also admitted to taking two shots while she was at dinner with her family.
A witness reportedly told deputies that they saw Perez driving down I-24 at a high rate of speed while swerving before the wreck occurred. Perez ended up sideswiping a vehicle which led to that driver leaving the roadway and hitting several yards of a cable barrier.
Perez ended up providing a breath sample and the breathalyzer had a reading of 0.216 which exceeds the legal limit.
Perez was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree wanton endangerment, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, third-degree escape attempt and wireless emergency phone service violations.
