Dawson Springs’ late rally takes down Hopkinsville

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers fell to 0-3 on the softball season as visiting Dawson Springs rallied for a 7-6 victory Monday afternoon. 

The Lady Panthers scored single runs in the sixth and sevent to rally from a 6-5 deficit. Josie Spurlin shut down the Lady Tigers in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the win. 

Dawson scored four runs in the top of the first but Hopkinsville rallied to tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the third. The Lady Tigers took a 6-4 lead, but the Lady Panthers plated the final three runs for the win. 

Bailee Ladson had a big game in the circle and at the plate for Hoptown. Ladson suffered the pitching loss despite striking out eight batters. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple and single. 

Amelia Lockhart and Zariona Bussell each had a pair of singles for the Lady Tigers. 

Hopkinsville returns to action Wednesday at home against Whitesville Trinity.
