CSX Railroad is planning to a close a number of railroad crossings in the coming weeks, starting with four in Hopkins County and eventually expanding into Christian County.
The closures will start on Monday, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, on Hospital Drive in Madisonville, then to West Noel Street on Tuesday, West Broadway on Wednesday and then to West Moss Avenue in Earlington on Thursday. Each closure is expected to last roughly 24 to 48 hours, depending on weather, rail traffic and other factors.
Then on July 15, two production teams will be addressing other city, county, private and state roads along the line between Hanson and Hopkinsville, including areas in Crofton, Nortonville and Morton’s Gap.
Specific dates for these closures have not yet been set, so motorists are urged to watch for warning signs and railroad workers along this route.
