Community members are invited to attend a final public forum hosted by Men 2 Be focused on the future revitalization of the historic Attucks High School campus.

The session, titled “Community: Our Past Visioning for the Revival of Crispus Attucks School,” will take place March 21 at 10 a.m. at the Christian County Middle School Performing Arts Center . The event is part of a series of community meetings aimed at gathering public input on preserving the history of the former school while exploring future uses for the property.

According to LaDessa Lewis, co-founder of Men2Be, the discussion will center on ways to honor the legacy of Crispus Attucks High School, which opened in 1916 as the community’s first high school built for African American students. The event will also focus on youth empowerment and creating opportunities through hands-on programs and skill development.

The session will highlight ideas for programs that support youth development, including initiatives like the Men 2 Be Academy. Lewis says the goal is to bring residents together to discuss both historic preservation and innovative ways the campus could serve the community in the future.

This forum is the final session in a three-part series that previously addressed the historical significance of the school and potential redevelopment ideas, including housing and community resources.

Lewis says community participation is important to help shape the long-term vision for the campus. The event is open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend and share their ideas. For more information, folks can call 270-348-4753.
