A bye week may have been just what the doctor ordered for the Christian County Colonels, following last week’s 55-6 season opening loss to Warren East.
Colonels’ coach Ethan Atchley said this week has been much needed. He said coaches have spent the bye week working with younger players and focusing on his team rather than preparing for an opponent.
The first-year Colonels coach said the coaching staff has spent the week working on fundamentals and individual growth.
Despite the lopsided loss last week, Atchley said he did see some positives that he can use to improve his team.
Christian County, which has lost seven straight games dating back to last year, returns to action Sept. 6 against Hopkinsville for “Bragging Rights.”
The Colonels defeated Hopkinsville 22-20 in 2023.
