The Christian County Colonels recorded another impressive early season high school baseball win on Tuesday night as they defeated No. 6-ranked South Warren 5-3 at Colonel Field.
Aiden Lewis went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles to lead the Colonels at the plate.
Nolan Young had another impressive start on the hill for Christian County (7-3). The freshman struck out nine and allowed only five hits and two earned runs over 6 1/3 innings of work to pick up the win.
Christian County scored all five of its runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Johnny Lewis had a run-scoring single and Aiden Lewis drove in a run with a double. The Spartans (8-1) also committed a two-run error in the frame.
South Warren made things interesting with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning and added a solo run in the top of the seventh.
Tuesday’s win was the second of the season for Christian County over a top-10 team. Last week, the Colonels defeated No. 2-ranked Lyon County 5-3.
