The Christian County Colonels’ final group of track athletes will make their appearance at the KHSAA Class 3-A State Track and Field Meet Saturday in Lexington.
This Colonels’ track season is the final in school history as the school will consolidate with Hopkinsville and be the Christian County Tigers in 2027.
Ten Colonels will compete this weekend in the state meet.
Leading the way is Satona Bailey, who is seeded fourth in the 200-meter dash. The junior also is seeded No. 13 in the 100-meter dash.
For the Lady Colonels, senior Symeria Brown is seeded 21st in the 400-meter dash.
Christian County Head Track Coach Jessica Caudill said Bailey and Brown are looking forward to going against the state’s best athletes.
The Colonels’ 4×100-meter relay team of Paul Abren, Karmelo Bailey, Satona Bailey, and Tom Johnson is hoping to get to the podium as well.
Alternates on the 4×100-meter relay team include DeAsian Harris, Levar Daniel, Frank Irving, and Shamar Barker.
The Class 3-A meet is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
