The Christian County High School football team will be on the road to Louisville today as the Colonels begin their 2024 season with their first scrimmage.
The Colonels will take on Louisville Fairdale and Louisville Central as part of a jamboree tonight starting at 6.
First-year coach Ethan Atchley said he is excited to see how his team will perform.
One of the biggest concerns for the Colonels will be at the quarterback position. Atchley said he plans to play a handful of players at quarterback tonight including Jaiden Williams, Sebastian Dazey and Ty Grace. All have performed well at times during the preseason 7-on-7 tournaments and in camp.
The group gives the Colonels’ a different look as each possesses different skills.
Atchley said it doesn’t matter who is under center, the goal is scoring.
The teams will not be keeping score during their scrimmages deciding to use the “10 and 10” method, which allows teams to play their defense for 10 straight plays before switching out opponents for another 10 straight plays.
Next week, Christian County will travel to Fort Campbell for its second and final scrimmage.
The Colonels finished 2-9 a year ago and were defeated in the first round of the playoffs. They open the regular season August 23 at Warren East.
