Bluegrass Splash Family Aquatic Center remains closed this summer as it’s need of costly repairs. In the meantime, the City of Hopkinsville created a community survey on Monday to find out if people want the water park to be repaired or transformed into a different recreation space.
Bluegrass Splash opened in 2007, and while it has been a source of fun for the community, it has also required frequent repairs. Toward the end of 2025, the Hopkinsville City Council voted to keep the water park closed for the 2026 season due to a major leak.
As a result of the water park’s increasing repair costs the city has a few options: renovating the existing water park, rebuilding the entire water park or closing the water park and creating another form of recreation in the area.
The survey asks residents if they would like to see the water park be repaired or reconstructed and if there is another amenity they would prefer to see at the site. Citizens of all ages are invited to complete the survey and it’s available at hoptown.org/survey.
