The winter holidays might be around six months away but folks at the Hopkinsville Sportsplex are inviting the community to start gift shopping early at Saturday’s Christmas in July Craft and Vendor Fair.
Sportsplex Facility Coordinator Tony Henson and Assistant Programming Coordinator Jason Wells appeared on WHOP on Monday to talk about the annual event. The vendor fair is in its fifth year and Henson says they originally started it as a way to bring more people to the sportsplex during the slower summer months.
Henson says the first Christmas in July had around 40 vendors and now they are preparing to have over 80. Many vendors are local to Hopkinsville while others are traveling from Tennessee and Indiana.
Henson says in the past, attendees have expected the event to include Christmas decorations, but really, it’s a chance for folks to do some holiday shopping and find some one-of-a-kind gifts.
Wells says Christmas in July is set to feature vendors selling woodwork crafts, clothing, embroidery, jewelry, 3D printing, sweet treats and much more.
Along with the vendors inside, there will be some food trucks outside. Gee’s BBQ, Ardell’s Mobile Café, Nana’s Dirty Soda and Sweet T’s Lemonade will be set up in the parking lot. During the vendor fair, shoppers can enter drawings for vendor gift certificates.
Christmas in July will take over the Hopkinsville Sportsplex on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
