Christian County Public Schools has announced Christian County High School was recently accepted into the Jazz Empowers Band Director Support Program. As part of the program, Christian County High School Band will gain full access to Jazz Empowers curriculum resources as well as direct coaching support to the band directors. Admission into the Jazz Empowers program also comes with a $1,000 grant that can be used for the purchase of additional instruments, sheet music, and other resources.
“We are excited to add additional support to our jazz program,” said CCHS Band Director, Anthony Darnall. “We are appreciative of the opportunity to join the Jazz Empowers organization and plan to use the grant funds to purchase sheet music, mouthpieces, and accessories for our program.”
According to the Jazz Empowers website, the Nashville-based organization is dedicated to transforming the lives of youth in underserved schools through jazz education. Band education programs in Title 1 schools can apply by submitting an application along with sample recordings to be considered for the program. Christian County High School will receive support and coaching from the program for the 2023-24 school year.
