Christian County Ducks Unlimited focuses on local wildlife conservation, and to further those efforts, the nonprofit is inviting the community to its annual banquet.
Ducks Unlimited is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee but has chapters across the country that work to conserve, restore and manage wetlands associated with waterfowl and other animals. On Friday, nonprofit member Jared Cravens appeared on WHOP to talk about the upcoming banquet.
The banquet is set to take over the Hopkinsville War Memorial Building and Cravens says it is open to everyone. Tickets cost $35 and can be bought at the door, online at ducks.org or from Pennyroyal Interiors.
Funds raised from the banquet will go right toward the nonprofit’s conservation efforts. To preserve wildlife, Cravens says the nonprofit purchases land to make conservation areas, creating places that will not be disturbed, developed or hunted.
If waterfowl habitats are not conserved, then Cravens says that could negatively impact those who hunt them.
The banquet is set for October 18 at 5:30 p.m.
