With some of the coldest temperatures of the season in store for this weekend, the Christian County Water District is giving some tips to winterize your homes now.
To prevent water issues developing during frigid temperatures, officials say go ahead and inspect your meter box to make sure the box is intact and the lid fits securely—remove water hoses from outside faucets and check for leaks, and make sure that outside vents and underpinning around your home is covered well. That will help keep cold air from infiltrating crawl spaces and freezing vulnerable pipes.
If the temperatures drop down well below freezing as they are forecasted to, you can keep a drip of water running from a faucet in your home to help prevent freezing.
