More information about the fatal crash on Greenville Road on Thursday has been released by the Christian County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the report, it happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Greenville Road and Coal Creek Road and when deputies arrived, they assisted emergency personnel with rescue efforts. Two of the vehicle’s occupants—34-year-old Lara Stokes of Hopkinsville and a 13-year-old—were able to free themselves from the wreckage.
A third occupant and the driver, 60-year-old Sandra Holder, was freed from the wreckage by emergency personnel and rushed to Jennie Stuart Medical Center with CPR in progress, but she would later die of her injuries.
Investigation determined that Holder had been operating the vehicle eastbound on Greenville Road and another vehicle was heading westbound. Holder reportedly attempted to get over to get out of the headlights of the oncoming vehicle, and her tires went off the roadway. The vehicle went off the road and rolled multiple times before coming to a stop in a riverbed.
A witness reportedly told officers that they had not seen any vehicle or animal that could have contributed to the crash.
Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.
