The Christian County Sheriff’s Department has charged a man following investigation into a burglary on Saturday.
According to a news release, investigation revealed that 46-year-old Keith Elkins forced entry into a hunting cabin, removed multiple items and caused significant damage to the property. Damages were made to the ceilings in the kitchen and other rooms, removal of copper pipes and wiring, removing kitchen appliances such as the microwave, coffee pots and dishes, tools, freezers and a dryer.
There was damage to a doorway and significant damage to a barn on the property.
The total value of stolen was approximately $5,000, not including the damage to the property. Trail camera footage helped lead to the identification of Elkins as the suspect.
Elkins was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief and felony theft by unlawful taking.
