CCPS welcomes back students for new school year

It was a familiar sight Monday morning, as school buses filled the streets, children lined up for classes and bells rang, as Christian County Public Schools welcomed in a new school year.

And at Christian County Middle School, most of the faces were smiling—if sleepy-eyed—as students quickly made their way to their new classes, greeting old friends and getting ready to start another year of learning.

CCMS Principal Kristen Lindsey says students were buzzing with the new school year excitement, and they’re ready to harness that school spirit into productivity.

She says their goal for this school year, as always, is student achievement, with a focus on preparing new middle schoolers for school life after elementary school, and getting their older students ready for what they’ll need to know for high school.

While the hot topic for the schools has been the consolidation of two high schools and a combining of the Tigers and the Colonels, Lindsey says the Colonels are still going strong at CCMS, just like the Tigers are at Hopkinsville Middle.

This is a special year for the high schools, as it marks the final year of separation, before they’ll join forces and student bodies in the new Christian County High School on Lovers Lane off of Fort Campbell Boulevard.

It’s sure to be a year marked with farewells, memories and remembrance of legacy—but it will also be a year filled with learning and laughter for students across the public school system.
