Christian County Public Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel announced that school board members will vote to add the use of AI for harassment to the district’s code of conduct at Thursday’s meeting.
This amendment comes after inappropriate AI-generated images depicting minors were reportedly distributed at a Christian County public school. The incident was reported to Hopkinsville Police on February 18.
The material being distributed might be fake, but Bentzel says the harm is real and is a form of sexual harassment.
Bentzel says they treat the distribution of inappropriate AI images the same way they would treat real images, and the proposed amendment will reflect that.
Bentzel also encourages parents and guardians to discuss with their children how to use their cellphones, social media and AI responsibly.
