Between the cold temperatures, wintry weather and the holidays, its been a bit of rough start for the third nine-weeks in Christian County Public Schools, but Superintendent Chris Bentzel says they’re ready to get back to normal.
Downright frigid temperatures led to some slower starts to the morning recently as students were encouraged to stay inside where it was warm until the bus arrived to pick them up—and while that resulted in some delays, Bentzel says it was worth to keep their students safe. He says being in school, in person is vitally important for students for numerous reasons.
He says it can tricky to find a groove for this nine-weeks as it is, but he’s confident they’ll find it and have a great semester.
The Christian County School Board was recently presented with a ‘draft budget’ for the 2025-2026 school year, and Bentzel says they are planning to accommodate some changes to the SEEK funding. He took time to clarify what exactly SEEK funding is and how it impacts the budget.
Construction continues at the site of the future consolidated Christian County High School, though most of the work is happening inside due to the temperatures. Superintendent Bentzel says before too long, they’ll be looking to fill an ‘executive principal’ position.
The board would have approve a job description before the hiring process could truly begin.
