While the kids are out for the summer, officials with the Christian County Public School system remain hard at work preparing for another year of learning while providing for students during the summer.
Maintenance is underway at all school campuses, such as deep cleaning, sanitizing and minor fixes for anything that became damaged during the school year, and Superintendent Chris Bentzel says every summer they pick a school to focus in extra-hard on. This year they chose Millbrooke Elementary, and it’s getting the whole nine-yards on upkeep, both inside and out.
The summer feeding program resumes this month as well, and Bentzel reminds folks to get their student registered for school—you can do it online, quick and easy.
The old Christian County Middle School has been fully demolished, with grass already growing where it once stood, and Bentzel says it went well with no issues to report. Now they’re focused on additional projects, like the one at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Early Learning Center.
Families interested in taking part in the summer feeding program can pick up Grab and Go bundles on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week through July. Tuesdays, the bundles are at Christian Middle School, Wednesdays at Gordon Park in Crofton and Thursdays they can be picked up at First Baptist Church in Oak Grove between 11 a.m. and noon. Freedom Elementary School is open for daily meals on site.
