CCHS Tigers, UHA soccer teams headed to BGSG

With the start of the 2026 high school soccer season less than a month away, several area teams will be headed to Lexington this weekend for the Bluegrass State Games. 

It will be the first time that the new Christian County High School teams will be on the soccer field. 

The Lady Tigers will play in the Girls Varsity “C” Divison and take on Letcher County at 5 p.m. on Friday night. Christian County will then take on Boone County at 10 a.m. Saturday and Louisville Eastern at 4 p.m. Saturday. 

Meanwhile, the Tigers are competing in the Boys Varsity “B” Division. They open play at 6:30 p.m. Friday against Somerset. Their two games on Saturday will be against Campbell County at 8:30 a.m. and George Rogers Clark at 2:30 p.m. 

University Heights Academy also is sending its girls’ and boys’ teams to the Bluegrass State Games. 

The defending Region 2 champion Lady Blazers are in the Girls Varsity “C” Division and are scheduled to take on defending Region 14 champion Estill County at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The second game Saturday will feature the Lady Blazers against Mason County at 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, UHA will take on Louisville Male at 11:30 a.m. 

Meanwhile, the defending Region 2 champion Blazers will compete in the Boys Varsity “B” Division and will play two games on Saturday. The first game is against Cooper at 10 a.m. and the second game will be against Franklin County at 4 p.m.  

The Blazers will play one game on Sunday. UHA is scheduled to play Region 10 runner-up Montgomery County at 10 a.m. 

Todd County Central is sending its girls’ and boys’ teams and Trigg County’s boys’ team also will play this weekend in the Bluegrass State Games.
