As summer is fast approaching, the Christian County High School Agriculture Department is helping downtown Hopkinsville with a floral makeover on Earth Day.

The Hopkinsville Beautification Department partnered with students from the CCHS Agriculture Department to plant flowers and greenery grown in the school’s greenhouse. The city purchased the plants from the greenhouse and students helped bring the project to life by planting them throughout the community.

CCHS Chapter member Tay Martinez spoke about the planting, saying it was a great way to clean up the city before welcoming in a new season. He added that it was a great opportunity for some hands-on learning within the heart of the community.

Martinez also invited the community to purchase plants from the greenhouse this week from noon to 4:30 pm. He says the students and teachers have donated a lot of time to the greenhouse, and their work Tuesday morning was just an extension of their pride.

While the CCHS ag. department is celebrating Earth Day downtown, Martinez encourages others to do their part in taking care of the city.
