Starting as a bus monitor, Caples also served as a bus driver and an instructional assistant while completing her education. She would earn her Bachelor of Science in Education from Murray State University, and then begin her teaching career at Morningside Elementary.
From there, she would teach at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary until becoming principal there in 2017. She became the principal at Bluegrass in 2023.
Caples is a graduate of Hopkinsville High School, and holds Rank I certification and dual master’s degrees from Walden University and Murray State University, along with an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education from Western Kentucky University.
Caples says, ““I consider it a true honor and privilege to work with students whom some may label as at-risk. I prefer to see them as at-promise, because I believe deeply in their strengths, potential, and resilience.”
