Cadiz, Kentucky is preparing to welcome the holiday season with a full day of festive events on Saturday, December 6, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The celebration begins early in the morning with the Cadiz Methodist Church Bazaar, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 482 Lakota Drive and will feature holiday items, handmade crafts and treats. At noon, Mrs. Santa’s Cookie & Candy Bazaar will open at the Cadiz Baptist Church Annex, with proceeds benefiting The Way Christian Youth Center. This sweet-themed bazaar will continue until the parade lineup begins later in the evening.
Throughout the afternoon, families can enjoy classic holiday fun at the Trigg County Historical Society, where Mrs. Claus and the Christmas Train will be available from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 41 Jefferson Street. Meanwhile, the Janice Mason Art Museum will host the opening reception for its Festival of Trees from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., offering visitors a chance to view beautifully decorated trees created by local organizations. Children can also participate in free ornament making between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., giving young visitors the opportunity to take home a handmade holiday keepsake.
By late afternoon, excitement will gather at Renaissance Square, where Santa Claus is set to arrive at 4 p.m. Families will have the chance to take free photos with Santa before the lighting of the Cadiz Christmas Tree shortly after 5:30 p.m. As part of the ceremony, Mayor Todd King will read the Christmas Story and holiday performances will be presented by the Cadiz Baptist Church Christian Academy, Trigg Tots and the Canton Baptist Church Choir.
The festivities continue into the night with the Cadiz Christmas Parade, which begins at 6 p.m. and will bring colorful floats, holiday characters and lively performances. Once the parade concludes, families are invited to stroll through the Lighted Christmas displays in West Cadiz Park.
