Burn ban put into place in Todd County

Todd County Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield has officially signed an executive order putting an open burning ban in place, effective immediately.

According to a news release, it was determined that due to the current dry conditions throughout the county, an extreme fire hazard does exist until measurable rainfall happens in the county. In the order, it states that no person shall cause or participate in any open burning within the Todd County, which includes debris removal, trash disposal, land clearing or bonfires.

The order will remain in force until the Judge-Executive issues another order revoking it.

Todd County likely won’t be the last county to implement some type of burn ban, as drought conditions look to linger in the entire region.

Cooking grills and fire pits are accepted under the burn ban as long as a person stays with them at all times.
