Heads up, Hopkins County motorists, as the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is set to start construction on a new Pond River Bridge on KY 138 this week.
According to a news release, work will begin early this week, and is expected to continue through July of 2027. Initial work will include building an embankment and new roadway leading to the future bridge location. During delivery of construction materials, motorists may experience occasional, short delays as trucks enter and exit the work zone.
The project is expected to have minimal impact on traffic through most of its duration.
Once the approach roadway is in place, crews will begin construction of the new bridge structure. The project also includes realigning the intersections of KY 370 and KY 281 to tie into the new KY 138 configuration.
